“What could you even miss if you sleep, anyway?”

“I could miss the key to finding my brother, Thomas.”

“Wasn’t he adopted, anyway?”

“You were adopted.”

“Aw.”

“Shh, shh, it’s okay, Edd. It’s alright. Don’t cry,” Matt shushes Edd, stroking his back as he hugs him tight, “I know this is hard on everyone, but please. It’s going to be okay.” he says, in some attempt to comfort the brunette.

“No, it’s not!” Edd whines between sobs, “I’m never going to see him again at this rate, and I don’t know what to do!”

“I don’t know either - in fact, there’s a lot that no one knows right now.”

“But that’s why we stick together. It’s all gonna be alright if we have each other.”

“You only say that ‘cause you don’t know what it’s like, Mattie!”

“You three were like brothers to me too, after my mama got sick, you know.”

“That’s not the same and you know it’s not!”

Matt simply sighs - it was going to be another long night up with a distraught Edd, wasn’t it?
